A.I.R.I.E. 2011

It's official I am one of the artist chosen to participate in the Artist In Residence In
Everglades National Park for 2011. I am however doing it in a different way then all the other artist in the program in that I am going to work through out the year rather then working there for a single month to fulfill my obligations in the program. I have so many ideas for new images and if I can complete as many as half of these ideas I will have a whole lot of new work. If your in the Everglades keep an eye out for a wandering photographer with a car full of props.

Image Title Stop The Exotics A statement about the growing number of non-native species that are turning up all over the Everglades, and
surrounding areas.

Flower Power 2.0

Sun Flower Preparing to face the day. I am now preparing to present twenty or more new images for my show Flower Power II at the First National Bank of South Miami on SunSet Drive directly across from the Sun Set Place in the heart of South Miami. The show will run for the month of October, and the opening will take place on October 8th from 6pm to 9pm. All are invited to attend, and should anyone have any ideas on how I could spread the word a little better I would appreciate your ideas. Brian

Pinecrest Gardens. This is the mosaic walk way through the meadow area of the park. I often feel as if we look at things we always see as less then what they could be with the right lighting, and perspective. I admire those who have the ability to see beyond the path and into the possibilities of where we could be with the right idea, and the perfect lighting.
AQUA A day in the pool. I find water to be one of my favorite subjects to shoot and work with. The ever changing look of water makes for great images regardless if it is the main subject or an added subject to the image itself.

This is one of my most recent images from the Everglades that I have turned upside down and I like it better that way. I am still looking for a grouping of Everglades images for a large public lobby here in Miami.

This is one of those images that seems to remind me of the warmer days that we cant seem to find around these days. I seem to be more inclined to show this image over a perfectly focused image of people on the beach for the feel this has is far better then the infocus image. It also takes more work getting an out of focus picture to come out good then it does an in focus picture, or atleast thats the way it works for me. .
Next to an early morning showering of color from the sunrise, I would have to say the waters of Everglades National Park hold the most color with in the park. I find intrest in the constant changing colors in the waters that pass beneath me as I try gather them together in a single image. From the reflections to the coloring producrd by the Red Mangroves, the water contains a pallet of many color. In addition to the Reflections, and the effects the Red Mangroves has on the water the the Mangrove Leaves add the colors to balance thecolor pallet of the waters.
This image is at Flamingo on the South West corner of Everglades National Park. I have made it my intention to try photography the Everglades in a way that is not usually desired by most photographers. I have given up on the birds, and would rather only photograph other photographers photographing the birds instead of me photographing them. I have found it to be a lot of fun observing and studying the parts of the park that once were the park but are now starting to fade away.

I am now doing some work in Everglades for a commission and its been alot of fun . I am presenting the park the way I see it and it seems to be workin well. If this commission works out I will have my work in the loby of another highly traveled public location. Life is good and only getting better.

Did you ever notice how cheap these hub caps are until you need one? I have a second image that is of used tires in a way that almost makes them seem like a herd of cows running through a narrow hallway. It is one of those combo image group that you see before you even look through the cameras lense.

Here is the initial idea fI had as being the best way to represent the Boca Chita Key Light House. Following this image I went inside the dome and took my images looking outward. I still like this image as long as it is printed as a pure Black and White print.

Splash

This is a favorite flower as well as a favorite image of mine due to the combination of the flower and the water together. I really feel a sense of calm from this image, and hope it does the same for you as well

Summer Time

The Green Hydrangea is not the most common type but it sure was fun trying to create an image as interesting as the flower itself.I find this flower has been shot all to many times from the outside looking in, and the inside looking out approach seems to have worked very well for me. Hope you like this one.

Old School Ride, new school treads.

I am thinking this is some old school ride with some new school rims. Miami beach on a school night looks like an other night. There never seems to be a dull day, or night on Miami Beach. The beach always seems to have an abundance people and cars all hours of the day and night.

Rainy Day on the Farm.

While out on maneuvers with GI Joe I saw this farm that appeared to be closed due to the heavy rains that were pounding down on the farm. I then started searching for the image that would best describe the day and here it is. Everything stops when the rain starts, or atleast it did on this farm.

Joe on the GO

I am continually exploring the possibilities that can come with a 4inch GI Joe Army Guy. I have started and continue to build the serries that I reffer to as the serries "An Army Of One" and from that serries here is "Joe on the GO". I am sure this will not be the last but I hope its one that brings back many good childhood memories for many of you who once faught beside the likes of a 4inch plastic Army Soilder. March On Brian.
